Q&A: Is there home improvement assistance for senior citizens?
I have a neighbor that lives alone and she is on medicaid. She is 76 years old and owns her home. She receives no help from anyone. Her house is in desperate need of a new roof. It is leaking in several places. I am single and am not financially able to help her. Does anyone know if there is any kind of federal or state assistance that could help with home improvements?

Start with community action group.
Does she have Family? Sons’ Daughters Nieces Nephews you can contact. Perhaps it’s time for assisted living for her.

Someone came out from the city and did a lot of work for my sister who is 85. The insultated her water heater, fixed a drain, and a lot of other work and did not charge her a cent. I would call Social Services and ask them. I think this would be city or county.

If she’s on Medicaid, she only has to call her caseworker or SENIOR SERVICES in her community.

Yes, it’s call the Area Agency on Aging and it’s in every county in the USA it is the Senior Service organization and partially funded by government grants for seniors. Just look in your phone book under ‘A’ or google Area Aging on Aging and ‘your county’.
BTW, not everyone who is on just any kind of medicaid program has a case worker… Some states do not give case workers for people on Medcaid, just a call center to call in questions ex: Florida.
