Q&A: Ecommerce or Blog? What makes more money?
I have read tons of info about ecommerce and or blogs and how to use them to make money. And when I say blog I mean a pro-designed highly monetized one. Eventually I want to roll out both, but can a blog make any real money alone? Is it worth the 2-3K in design fees? I’ve seen a month all the way up to 5K-10K a month for some blogs in earnings. Or are blogs better used as a marketing/info site for your products/website and not really a vehicle for money making? Is a blog alone viable enough? I love to write and find sales/inventory/customer service, etc difficult and expensive. But at the same time ecommerce also has huge potential. I have to do one or the other for now due to budget restraints.

Just choose a product to advertise and add it to your blogs making sure you add your hoplink and away you go!
The more blogs you do the more traffic youll get and you wont see money coming in on the first day but you will after a few weeks. The more promoting you do the better tho!
Dont spend 2-3k on site fees thats just stupid you can make money online nowadays for free without any hassle.

Blogs are a great way to make money, I know of a couple that earn – thousand dollars a day. Not per month, but per day. But I wouldn’t spend k on the design, just do it yourself, it doesn’t need to be really fancy to start out, instead spend that k on advertising your blog, it will pay off way more in the end.

It would really depend on whether you fancy yourself a writer or a negotiator/business person. Typically, strong writers with a working knowledge of Online marketing make the most blogging, but it’s not always the case. If you have sub-par writing skills I would say, don’t do the blog thing, it will be a headache for you to post often enough and come up with content ideas.
Either way, you’ll have to find a niche, whether it’s a niche blog topic(s) or product(s) to sell. My suggestion is not to mix the two, at least at first. Many ecommerce merchants start a blog to enhance their selling site and monetize it, but don’t realize that typical blog readers hate ads, especially blogs that look like they are monetized. It takes practice and knowledge to do it right in either case.
I am sort of bias since I am in eCommerce, but my suggestion would be to open an Online shop selling products that mean something to you, and later on, start a blog with information relating to the products you sell. Over time, by building loyal followers and writing quality content, you’ll have enough practice, knowledge and readership to monetize the blog too.
Make sure you are getting into this for the right reasons. There are plenty of ways to make money online and the two you’ve mentioned happen to be two that require quite a bit of work in order to accomplish. There’s also affiliate programs.
