Hi,my name is Anne,I did the following:
Q&A: I have to pay a lot of self-employment tax this year and don’t have the money?
I didn’t know that I was considered self-employed and now realize I have about ,500 in self employment taxes to pay. I have no money to pay the government right now and I’m unemployed. Are there any options out there for me so I can delay paying the tax? I know I have to pay the government no matter what, but how can I work out a deal with them to pay over time?

Q&A: Sole proprietor or Partnership? Do both partners have to pay self-employment tax, double the sole p. rate?
My live-in son would like to start a small business. I would help him, but really don’t need the money and would work for free. I realize that as a sole proprietor he would owe self-employment taxes. If we would decide to become partners to make it easier for me to help him with business contacts, would I have to pay self-employment taxes too, making the tax owed on the business double? How would we file income taxes – on a joint business return or on our individual tax returns. I currently file jointly with my husband. We don’t expect much of a profit initially, so a double self-employment tax between us would really eat into profits.

Hi,my name is Anne,I did the following:
Question: How do I do self-employment tax if I have only worked since November?
I didn’t work last year and didn’t file a tax return. I only started working November of this year and I read that the 1099 was supposed to be filed quarterly. I’ve never worked as self employed before. What do I do? Do I just file the last quarter before April 15?

Does the Earned Income Credit able to cover Self-Employment tax? Comments Off

Question: Does the Earned Income Credit able to cover Self-Employment tax?
I made 3600 dollars from August to December delivering food. So I was paid in cash with no taxes, paystub, W2 or anything. I will owe income tax, state income tax (1.67% in NJ) and self employment tax. I’ve heard that I will owe 500 dollars in Self-Employment tax and that I probably won’t owe Fed. Income tax because I didn’t make enough money. Will the Earned Income Tax cover my Self-Employment tax?
