Question: Do you have to get you taxes readjusted after a home improvement?
Lets say you finish your basement or add a bathroom, this adds value to your house. Taxes are partially based on the value of your home right? How does this work? I live in NY if that helps but in general what happens?

Question: What form does my employer need to give us for self employment taxes?
My brother owns a small business, and we are all considered self employed contractors. Now that it is tax time, he asked me what form of W-2 he needs to give all of us (about 8 people), so that we may file our taxes as getting wages from him. I have no idea where to start, the Irs website offers a lot of information, except I don’t really know what I am looking for.

Hey, I have a question about taxes on Savings Bonds and Stocks.? Comments Off

Hi,my name is Anne,I did the following:
Question: Hey, I have a question about taxes on Savings Bonds and Stocks.?
I recently cashed out some Stocks and Savings Bonds and was wondering how much I had to save for taxes. I cashed out ,750 in Savings Bonds and ,500 Stocks. I’m gonna file single and no taxes have been paid on any of the stocks or bonds and this is for 2007. Is it still 10% up to 25 then 15% on the rest? If that is my only income in 2007 am I right that I’ll owe roughly ,300 for 2007? Doesn’t have to be exact just making sure I save what I’ll need to pay for taxes so I won’t be in debt. This is the 1st time I’ve messed with stocks and bonds (Oh yeah, They were EE bonds) and not sure about taxes on them. Thanx

If self employment income is less than standard deduction, do we still owe taxes? Comments Off

Posted on January 29, 2011 by admin

Do you find what you need? Look here!
Question: If self employment income is less than standard deduction, do we still owe taxes?
The wages for self-employment (1099) are less than the standard deduction for 2009, and taxes were already taken out of the W-2 portion of our wages–so the only thing that hasn’t been paid is the self-employment part. If this is less than ,500, do we still pay taxes on it even if everything added together (W2 and 1099) is greater than the standard deduction?
