Recently it has emerged that almost half of pupils leave school without mastering the standard forms of English. Employers also complain that in spite of achieving high CXC grades, many pupils appear not to have grasped the basics.
Children’s environment influences their form of speech. Dialect is very popular in the Caribbean which makes It difficult for teachers because you can not expect children to master the English Language in its spoken form when their families or relatives do not speak it at home.
Although most of the time it is because of the child’s background, the problem can also lye on the school, for example, Some children are being passed through the lack of interest teachers show in the child‘s work. Schools also have a criteria to meet, and in which some do not include waiting on ‘slower‘ students, therefore children are being passed because teachers are at risks of loosing their jobs if they do not reach a certain deadline.
Solutions to these problems are simple but sensible.
I believe writing must begin in the students lives and be generated for real audiences to skill the pupils for future endeavours. The language should not only be taught but it should be brought alive in a fun and educational way. Teachers should create situations in the classroom that encourage all students to talk openly about what they do not understand in which teachers would then create an objective list for each student with their difficulties in grammar, spelling etc.
This gives each child individual help and gives the teacher an opportunity to see where he/she needs to focus on.
This would create a more comfortable learning environment.
Because grammar is not pushed as much in High School, teachers spend a lot of time analyzing novels etc.
It is because of the demands we place on our school system that the child should reach at a certain stage in comparison to children who are behind. This would bring about the result that children leaving school have not mastered standard English.

Where is your Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. The content of this essay seems well thought out and mostly fairly well written. However, it lacks the structure of an essay.
There is a Thesis here, something like: children need to focus on reading and writing early in their education. You need to state it clearly in your introduction and then tell us how you are going to support it.
Then in your body paragraphs, tell us more about your points. Support them with specific examples.
Finally, conclude your essay by restating your thesis and you are done.
